ESL is a really interesting subject for me because I for a long time, have really been wanting to teach overseas. So learning some new stuff about esl and how to use technology to aid in the classroom. I was surprised at how broad the spectrum of tools that can be used for esl was. and what could be used was surprising too. For example, using podcasts never would have crossed my mind and to be honest i'm still at little bit skeptical as to how this would really be beneficial. Language labs i suppose would be pretty well known and sort of a given, but I didn't realize that they were still in use today or still effective i should say.
And the visual field trip too would have never even crossed my mind as a possibility.'
But i defiantly think, looking over the visual field trip discussion that I would like to try and take advantage of that type of tech ed. I think the most important tool for ESL classes would be, as discussed incorporating the native language into the classroom. I have talked to many prospective ESL teachers that know no other language than their own. I realize that this is not always a problem but I think, for students attempting to learn a new language, they would be a little disheartened to realize their teacher had never made the other.
